The middle of April is an important time during the spring soccer season. Coaches have gotten to know their players during the first month, and now is when they start identifying players' roles and pushing player development that will lead to success at the end of the year.
The players of Wheaton-Warrenville South are providing coach Guy Callipari with a strong mixture of talent, toughness and athleticism.
On Oswego East's full-size grass field, the Tigers used the space to possess the ball and attack with purpose. The strong wind limited either team's ability to make accurate long passes, but South players kept moving and opening up short pass options.

Ashlyn Adams scored with twenty-three minutes left in the first half. She took possession of the ball in the middle third of the field and used her speed to charge toward the net and around the eighteen she fired a shot and scored.

Several South players were working hard in the first half to add to the Tiger's lead

Sophomore midfielder Kelsey Clousing (9) covered a lot of ground receiving passes from the South backline and moving the ball to forwards. She had a few long runs of her own as well.

When the Oswego East Wolves moved the ball deep into Tiger territory, senior defender Brooke Ittersagen and senior keeper Marilyn Dixon turned away all threats.

Taking a 1-0 lead into the second half, South continued to put offensive pressure on the Wolves.

With eighteen minutes left in the match, Senior Ella Byrnes got a clean shot away that found the back of the net, which resulted in great praise from her teammates.

Byrnes' goal was the last score of the game, so the Tigers headed back to Wheaton with a 2-0 victory over the Wolves.
