Northfield-- Losing to only one Illinois team in 2024, Naperville North, it would be easy to understand Illinois soccer teams hoping the new season would find the Trevians less talented, less dominating, more vulnerable.
Monday night's 6-0 season-opening victory over visiting Carmel suggests this year's Trevians are ready to defend their IHSA 3A championship crown.
With sophomore Annie Fowler returning in goal, opposing offensive players are going to have their work cut out for them. Fowler and the Trevians only gave up four goals during their march through a twenty-nine game 2024 season. That's not a typo--four goals in twenty-nine games.

Monday night, two minutes into the game, Carmel's keeper was red carded for a handball just outside the penalty area. Playing a man down did not make Carmel's task any easier.

Carmel played strong defense, but Addy Randal kept creating scoring opportunities, both for herself and her teammates.

Randall scored the first goal of the game and ended with three tallies on the night.

Quinn Brahm, Bea Cirulis, and Elie Shaver each added a goal to reach the final score of 6-0.

It's only the first week of the season, but New Trier clearly looks ready to take on all challengers.
