Griffins Start Strong, Finish Strong

On a cold night in New Lenox, the Griffins offense came out ready to play. Adelyn Thomas scored first on a nifty touch shot that arced over Central's keeper.
Just a few minutes later, Maddie Strzechowski scored on a PK.
Lincoln-Way Central maintained their focus, and countered with a couple of scoring opportunities of their own, but they were not able to put them in the net.
At about the twenty minute mark, Ellie Feigl teed up a free kick. Her sophomore sister Ava (19) jumped on a ball that deflected off Central's keeper and upped the score to 3-0.
The half ended with the Griffins up 3-0.
As the teams moved the ball up and down the field in the second half, East's defense turned back each of the Knight's attacks.

The margin of victory was a bit of a surprise to me. Lincoln-Way Central puts a strong lineup on the field. But as I look at the photos and video, there were stretches where East moved faster to the ball, faster off the ball, and controlled the pace of play. The three goals they scored in the first twenty minutes of the game demonstrated how fast they were playing.
